- Raw materials and processing of Salsa Jeans articles
01 MATERIALSOur goal is the responsible use of raw materials, as well as increasing the use of sustainable materials. Some of the fibres we use, such as viscose, Tencel and Modal, are made from wood and we want to ensure a responsible attitude towards forests. Our commitment is to use only raw materials obtained responsibly, without having an impact on the deforestation of endangered old-growth forests. 100% of our sourcing of forest raw materials will be certified by 2027, including products and packaging. |
TENCEL® LYOCELL®Low ecological impact, biodegradable, produced from renewable raw material wood. Some of our jeanswear is made with Tencel! |
TENCEL® REFIBRA®A technology that upcycles cotton scraps that would go to waste, then mixing them with wood pulp to create new TENCEL fibers. You can find it in our denim garments! |
ECOVERO ViscoseComing from certified renewable wood sources, this fiber ensures a cleaner and responsible production. We use it on our t-shirts! |
REPREVEA fiber made out of plastic bottles! We use this kind of polyester in our puffers in many ways: for the filling, for the lining or even as the main fabric! |
SORONAThis fiber originally comes from the sugar extracted from the crops, then added to plant-based ingredients to create a polymer with low environmental impact. Many of our jackets are filled with this kind of material. |
3M - Recycled WarmthWe use the 3M Thinsulate Insulation technology in the filling of some of our coats. It is made with recycled content, including fibers made from recycled plastic bottles. |
We want to use an increasing amount of recycled raw material in our value proposition, so 100% of the nylon accessories in the handbags in our spring-summer 22 collection will be made from recycled plastic (100% recycled pre-consumer polyamide and 100% recycled post-consumer polyester). 100% of the filling in the puffer jackets in our autumn-winter 22/23 collection will also come from recycled plastic (REPREVE). |
02 CIRCULARITYWe need to re-establish balance with nature by conserving our natural resources, and in fashion this means finding circular models. Product quality is a key factor in this equation; the better the quality, the longer the products will remain in the cycle, being used more often and for longer. Salsa’s circularity vision is based on training our designers and support teams to develop long-lasting, recyclable products. |
THE JEANS REDESIGNWe've joined "The Jeans Redesign" project by the Ellen MacArthur Foundation, which encourages the transition to a circular economy, to shape our vision of the future towards more responsible materials and methods that will certainly be continued in our next collections. We develop these TRUE jeans following the circularity philosophy in the techniques applied and materials used, in order to increase their useful life and to enable easy and full recycling at the end of their life. |
